Here are a few files you'll need if you're going to use CVSup with FreeBSD. Included are the ones I always use on my machines. Just copy them to your /etc directory and modify them to suit. Make sure you select a closer CVSup server.
Once they're installed, check make.conf to add any "global" flags you wish to pass whenever you're installing something (eg WITHOUT_X11=true), and then from /usr/src or /usr/ports just type 'make update'. It's so easy.
